"Herzlich Willkommen zu Hause" is the project concerning to my diploma thesis: home as a media articulating identity and familiarity.
Do you have any feelings or thoughts connecting familiarity and home?
The media T-shirt concerning to home was found as a media with different tasks: to cover, to envelope, to veil our experiences and memories - this cover was found to protect the inside and the outside.
Finally I designed different t-shirts with different ideas of what home means, because home is different for everybody. I used the roots of home: family, childhood and space.
It was very important not just to buy a simple basic fabrik made t-shirt, but to sew them on my own. Aktually its no industrial mass production. The handmade character of the t-shirts is forming an individuall identity. My study deals with innovative strategies concerning identity and home.
Every t-shirt has a base, a basic information sewed on the front. Furthermore I created ad ons. Ad ons are little elements. With the help of press buttons in combination with my connecting system these ad ons are individual changeable, universell applicable.
As a result - there are a lot of points creating home and the literal meaning of what home could be. Ad ons were helping me to visualise these different aspects of identity and familiarity. Everybody an create an own meaning of home while deliting, changing or creating new ad ons.
